DISABLE SMBv1

SMBv1 DISABLE

To disable SMBv1 using Windows Registry, search for regedit in the Start menu and open it.

After opening Windows Registry, navigate to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\LanmanServer\Parameters

In the right panel right-click and select the option β€œNew” and then β€œDWORD (32-bit) Value.”

Name the new value β€œSMB1” and press Enter.

Double-click on the newly-created value, enter β€œ0” in the Value Data field and click on the β€œOk” button.

Just restart your system and SMBv1 will be disabled. If you ever want to revert back, simply change the value data to β€œ1.”

While disabling or removing SMBv1 might cause some compatibility issues with old computers or software, SMBv1 has significant security vulnerabilities.
